Portuguese Knitting with Lisa Ellis
Portuguese knitting is a smooth, easy and fast technique involving only a flick of the thumb! With minimal hand movement, this style of knitting is ergonomically gentle on the hands and wrists. Portuguese knitting is also an ideal method when working in color. We’ll start tensioning the yarn around our neck the traditional way then adding a portuguese pin or 2! We start with a new way to hold the yarn, a Portuguese cast on and then practice both knitting and purling our project inside out! For those wishing to advance into colorworks, we’ll practice Fair Isle using 2 knitting pins and 2 colors - this is a game changer!
